Types of LED screens 

Size 

LED screens come in a variety of sizes, from small panels to huge video walls. 

The screen size is selected depending on the installation location and purpose of use:

Small screens (up to 32 inches): Often used indoors to display advertising or information.

Medium-sized screens (32-65 inches): used in conference rooms, shops and common areas.

Large screens (over 65 inches): used in sports stadiums, concert halls and outdoor advertising. 

Type of LEDs 

DIPs are light emitting diodes in a housing on "legs". They have good brightness, high reliability, resistance to climate change, but large size, due to which they are mainly used in LED displays with a large pixel pitch.

SMD - Compared to DIP, they are much smaller in size, they do not have a large lens and long "legs" - contacts. They look more like flat, square computer chips. Due to their small dimensions, they are used on screens with a small pixel pitch. SMD diodes are more fragile than DIP diodes, so they have a shorter service life if installed incorrectly in adverse weather conditions.

 

Pixel pitch (P)

Pixel Pitch is the distance between the centers of two neighboring pixels. This determines the screen resolution and image quality. The smaller the pixel spacing, the higher the resolution and the clearer the image.

 

The range of pixel steps is quite large, but in this article we will look at the three main, most common ones that can be found on our site. 

Large pixel pitch (P8): suitable for outdoor advertising where long visibility is important. The optimal viewing distance is 11-12 meters.

Medium pixel height (P5): used in shopping malls, railway stations and other public places. The optimal viewing distance is 7 meters.

Small pixel pitch (P2.5): Ideal for indoor environments such as conference rooms and studios where high image quality is required for close-up viewing. The optimal viewing distance is 2-4 meters. 

*Optimal viewing distance is the distance where the image is perceived most clearly and with the highest quality.

The color rendering of LED screens depends on the number of colors the screen can display:

Monochrome displays: Display only one color (eg red, green or blue). Usually used for simple information displays. 

Dual color displays: Capable of displaying two colors eg red and green. Used for simple graphic and text messages. 

Full Color Displays (RGB): Can display all colors thanks to a combination of red, green and blue LEDs. These screens are used to display high quality video and graphics. 

Applications of LED screens 

Advertising and marketing 

LED screens are actively used in outdoor advertising due to their brightness and attention-grabbing ability. They are installed on building facades, roadsides, public transport stops and other places with heavy traffic.  

Sports events 

In sports arenas and stadiums, LED screens are used to display results, replays and advertisements. Large video walls allow spectators to better see what is happening on the field and participate in interactive elements.
